Anonymous Instagram Content Viewer – Picuki anyone?

Have any of you ever heard of a website called Picuki.com?

I hadn’t until a few minutes ago, when it showed up as a Google Search Result when I searched “HelsingborgByFoot” (Yes, I from time to time Google my domain name to see what pops up… I bet you sometimes do the same). If anything it helps with awareness.

Using Google Alerts to track Keyword Content on Google

If I wanted to be even more hardcore with the tracking of searches for my domain name, I might’ve considered using Google Alerts. But at least I’m not that far gone… yet ;) Who knows what the future holds.

For you who don’t know about Google Alerts yet, its a nifty little service Google offers, which allows you to create notification systems that trigger on certain keywords and search phrases whenever content containing said keyword or phrase pops up on Google!

Anonymous Instagram Viewer Explained

I just found out about Picuki when searching for my own websites domain on Google just now.

It appears according to Googles first hit on “What is picuki?”, that:

“Picuki is a free online tool that allows users to view, edit, and download Instagram content anonymously without an account or logging in.”
– According to bulk.ly

So it seems that Picuki is one of many alternatives for Anonymous Instagram Profile Viewing. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised though. Anonymity has been popular for quite some time now ever since the dawn of The Internet.

Not sure what to think of this personally, I can see both good and bad use cases for such a tool, but quite interesting that it exists nonetheless. If someone can think it, someone will build it, eventually, as history usually goes.

According to another website, “Picuki offers unrestricted access to public IG profiles and act as IG viewer and Content Downloader.”

Heads-up for whoever out there believes their content is “Safe” on Instagram

The Save feature offered I reckon, can also be both good and bad.

Not so good for people who don’t want other people to Download their content, obviously. One tiny relief might be that the Uploaded Instagram pictures are restricted in quality.

This might be a good “heads-up” however for whoever our there still believes in their content being “safe” uploaded on Instagram, from would-be-downloaders. Information is half the battle they say.

Useful Tool for Anonymous Instagram Viewing

Apparently some people seem to use it for anonymous Story viewing as well, which I remember reading about a while back that Instagram Stories log statistics of viewer engagement for the poster to analyze. So I can see the potential here for people not wanting (for whatever reason) to let IG users know about that they watched their content. There can be many reasons for not wanting this, both good and bad.

Sadly as with everything, good intentions can be abused for bad purposes. As with most inventions in our World. Just look at the Atom Bomb. Good intentions (or so some claim with perhaps a bit tilted perspective), but also a dash of grandiose Naïvité perhaps.

The one part I’m a bit Extra curious about though, regarding this tool/service however, is the part where bulk.ly mentions it enabling users to “Edit” IG Content… Edit? How and Why?

Another point made about Picuki is that its apparently also a popular tool for marketers and businesses to conduct: competitive analysis and trendspotting.

Instagram Upload Restrictions Walkthrough

Instagram has restrictions for bandwidth purposes regarding how large images are allowed to be for them to be uploaded, if I recall correctly from researching it a while back.

Max size in width that gets uploaded on Instagram

And as you can read in Instagram Help Centers very own article about this, whenever you share a picture on Instagram, they upload it with a Maximum width of 1080 pixels, regardless whether you use Android or iPhone.

The article also states: “If picture uploaded is between 320 and 1080 in width, upload dimensions are kept intact – granted that the ratio is between 1.91:1 and 4:5 (height between 566 and 1350 with width of 1080 pixels).”.

Instagram crops pictures to a format that is supported

However- if said ratio is not correct, as mentioned in above quote from Instagrams own Help Center article, it will be cropped to a format that is supported.

Watch out for Instagram image scale-up if trying to upload too small image

If you were to share a picture of LESS than 320 pixels of width, Instagram will Scale your picture for you (risking quality loss, as with all scale-up’s of images, especially if ratio is not upheld proportional to the original). Larger images attempted to be uploaded will instead be reduced by Instagram to the Maximum width of 1080 pixels.

Good use case for a tool such as Picuki.com

A nice thing about such a tool is to skip the need for logging into Instagram to take part of content.

It could be a nice way of family members or relatives to take part of content you post if they themselves lack an account of their own as a viable alternative for sure.

Why Anonymous IG Viewer tools such as Picuki offers Edit capabilities Explained

It seems the Editing capabilities of such tools aim to enhance posted pictures before sharing said picture onto diverse platforms – if that is the users intent.

Figured it might be of some value to others like me posting stuff on Instagram to know about its existence if you, like me, haven’t heard about it previously either :)
